Tribute to Darlene

I shalll always remember Darlene although I didn't know her in person for a long time. We met through my sister Linda Harvey Securda. Linda worked for Darlene and when they both retired they became close friends. They shared many interests, including growing roses and doing crafts together. Linda's family lived across the country and neither had family close by them. Therefore they shared many hours together. Linda always told me about Darlene and their interests. Linda was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and Darlene was there for her through the treatment and afterwards. Whenever I visited Linda we would visit with Darlene and it was my honor to meet her in person throughout the years. In 2009 Linda's cancer came back and I spent time in Ca. with her and Darlene helped us. Linda was now by herself and wanted to return to Illinois to be close to family. She came back with me and passed away in 2009. Darlene came to Illinois for Linda's memorial service and although it was hard for her to fly (she didn't like flying) she stayed with me and accepted my request to speak at the service. I shall always be grateful for her friendship to Linda and her support. And I, myself, am grateful for knowing such a giving person. Corinne Harvey McCoy Aurora, IL
